Welcome to the NOJOS 2010 Advanced Academy, held in Cedar City, Utah at the Crystal Inn Hotel. We are excited about the excellent list of experts who have agreed to share their knowledge with us. The agenda includes:
- Michelle Gourley, founding member of NOJOS, nationally recognized presenter, will present on: Neuroscience and the adolescent brain - Implications for youth who engage in sexual misconduct.
- Ryan Grant, author of the book Interventions for Children With Sexual Behavior Problems: Research, Theory, and Treatment, will present a treatment model for working with children and youth with sexual behavior problems.
- Moises Prospero, Assistant Professor University of Utah College of Social Work and Director of Utah Criminal Justice Center, will present on: Real life applications of "The Good Lives Model"
- Rob Butters, Assistant Professor University of Utah College of Social Work, will present information from his doctoral dissertation on: Empathy and the adolescent sex offender.
- Larry Fox, Private practice psychologist working with adult and juvenile sex offenders, will present on: What's your bias - Perceptions of the treatment provider and the impact on treatment.
Other highlights include:
Thursday night Pig Roast: Youth Health Associates has graciously invited attendees to a traditional "pig roast" dinner after the sessions end on Thursday. Directions to their residential unit will be provided.
